The Society for the Dissemination of Natural Science

This society was established by Hans Christian Ørsted in 1824, after a visit to England, where he had been impressed by the activities of the Royal Institution. Like the Royal Institution, SNU saw its purpose to make science known outside the academic sphere. Its meetings were held at the Technical University of Denmark. The society is still active, see SNU
