I Sommeren 1940 [last digit later corrected to “1”, with the note “øjensynlig 41!” added in the margin] Besøg af Heisenberg og Weizsäcker i forbindelse med en atomfysisk Konferens på det tyske Institut på Nørre Alle hvori ingen fra U.I.T.F. deltog. Fortrolig meddelelse fra Heisenberg om den tyske forberedelse af Atomvaaben som B strax forsøgte over Sverige at lade gå videre til England. (Hvad der dog som B senere erfarede i England var gjort upraktisk af svenske Venner saaledes at meddelelsen ikke blev forstaaet i London.)
English translation.
In the summer of 1940 [last digit later corrected to “1”, with the
note “seemingly 41!” added in the margin] visit by Heisenberg and Weizsäcker in connection with an
atomic-physics conference at the German
institute on Nørre Alle in which nobody from U.I.T.F. took part. Confidential
report from Heisenberg about the German preparation of atomic weapons, which B
immediately tried to pass on to England through Sweden. (Which, however, as
Bohr later learned in England, was done clumsily by Swedish friends, so that
the report was not understood in London.)
